Certified Recovery Houses in NH are those that the NH Coalition of Recovery Residences have certified as meeting National Alliance of Recovery House quality standards for safety, recovery support, and ethical operations. The standards were Initially developed through an intensive collaboration between regional, state, and local organizations supporting recovery residences nationwide. The term “Recovery Residence” was adopted by NARR and refers to standards-based recovery housing. As the sole Michigan NARR Affiliate, MARR certifies provider compliance with the NARR standards and code of ethics.

• In addition, clusters of local Oxford Houses form mutually supportive chapters so that houses can monitor each other.
• We believe all people seeking recovery-based housing should have access to both a safe and accommodating residence where they can live a healthy and rewarding life.
• The confidential, HIPAA compliant virtual program is covered through student health insurance, private pay and scholarships and is tailored to the specific needs of young adults and college students.
• Multiple mutual aid meetings are hosted each week, including meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous , Narcotics Anonymous and All Recovery.
• Staffed by a dedicated Haven Recovery Coach and live-in House Managers who are students in recovery themselves, parents can be assured that their student is living in a safe, supportive and secure environment.

As such, the types of relationships that promote recovery are peer-to-peer rather than peer-to-professional, so house staff may also be comprised of individuals in recovery. «Long Term» Recovery Housing refers to safe, healthy, and substance-free living environments that support individuals in recovery from addiction. Length of stay is self-determined and can last from several months to years. All recovery homes are founded on social model recovery, but beyond that, they can differ in the type and intensity of services they provide and can differ in their staffing or governance. This diversity creates a spectrum of options that cost effectively matches individual’s evolving needs with a level of support.

WVARR serves as a unified voice advocating for and educating about the recovery residence community in West Virginia. Level 1 residences are democratically run homes where the residents self-govern by a set of “house rules” and share monthly expenses. Level 2 residences have unpaid staff who monitor resident participation in individual and community recovery activities. Student Outreach & Support offers individual support, guidance and referral to helpful resources for all students during critical incidents and difficult situations. This could mean having individuals provide services that should only be conducted by licensed professionals, or promoting staff when they aren’t ready or adequately trained.

The residence encourages health and wellness in mind, body and spirit for our students in recovery. Recovery Houses are safe, health, family-like substance-free living environments that support individuals in recovery from addiction.

Who Works at Recovery Residences?

Your particular role may also vary based on your level of progress or length of stay.4 In other words, you may take on more of a leadership role or have more responsibility when you have been there longer and have shown that you have made progress in your recovery. Level I homes are completely peer-based and offer the least amount of support. Residents are responsible for self-monitoring and staying accountable to each other. This is an example of what an Oxford House living environment might look like. SAMHSA’s mission is to lead public health and service delivery efforts that promote mental health, prevent substance misuse, and provide treatments and supports to foster recovery while ensuring equitable access and better outcomes.

The process also allows us to learn more about how our community can best support the student’s individual recovery goals. Our sober living homes are spacious, with plenty of room inside and out to interact with your housemates or take time to yourself. You’ll find fully equipped kitchens, comfortable common areas, and living spaces separated by gender. Unethical financial practices such as offering free rent in exchange for going to a specific treatment program, insurance fraud, or accepting bartering for payment. Compliance is affirmed through submission of extensive documentation, annual onsite inspections, participation in sponsored training, and events and responsiveness to all reported concerns and/or grievances. ​VARR approved houses demonstrate adherence to a rigorous set of standards that is produced at the National level through NARR. The National Alliance for Recovery Residences has established national best practice standards and a certification program, which owner-operators can use as a roadmap (see NARRonline.org).

The confidential, HIPAA compliant virtual program is covered through student health insurance, private pay and scholarships and is tailored to the specific needs of young adults and college students. Students can connect with like-minded peers who, along with Haven clinicians, provide community, accountability and relief from isolation during this challenging time. Treatment Services include Group, Individual and Family Therapy; Case Management; Life Skills and Educational Sessions. Community Support includes Recovery Coaching, Family Support, Online Recovery Meetings and Online Peer Support. Become certified in operating a recovery residence and access workforce training and resources. Each WVARR-certified residence will have completed a thorough application process, including peer review of policies and procedures and an on-site home inspection. WVARR will publish a directory of certified residences to help you learn more about the options available or to find specific information, like whom to contact, how to pay, and what kind of services the home provides.
